Food at Kerela House - New Delhi

The Kerela House at 3, Jantan Mantar Road, New Delhi

Beautiful, well-crafted and look alike elephant statue at the Kerela House entrance

New Delhi, June 19th 2015: Today, I explored new eating joint - Kerela House at Janpath. The food pricing is kept extremely reasonable, quite cheap rates in fact. Veg Thali @50 Inr and Non-veg Thali @100 Inr with a choice of Fish or Chicken. The food is okay nothing extraordinary though what excited me is the nice behavior of Restaurant Food Servers, quality of rice and Jeera Pani (Cumin seed Drink) which is advised to be consumed after the meal that helps in digestion :)
Oh! I forgot to mention the name of the restaurant "Samridhi" means Prosperity. Everyday there is a special menu. Today, it was traditional Kerelite food served:

In Veg thali:

Vegetarian Thali

Sambar, which was a bit sweet for me like Gujarati dish ;)

- Rasam, soup served before the meal in south India  (PIC missing)

- Buttermilk (really good)

Papad (quite different then usually served papad, as it was like soft chapati style yet crispy)

Steamed Rice, a bit fatty grains in appearance also known as Kuthari Choru, Kerela's tradition cooked rice

Kundru and grated coconut veggie

- Potato cooked in coconut gravy (PIC missing)

Kheer (Rice cooked in condensed milk)

Jeera Pani (Cumin seeds boiled in Water, considered to be good for digestion)

In Non-veg thali:
Chicken Masala
- Above of all items of veg thali, chicken/fish is served

Best part was so much food at such a cheap price and taste was not bad. I was amazed to notice that everyone in the canteen was having their food in a traditional way as they were eating with their hands and not with spoon - English Style ;)
Staff was quite courteous, they explained me everything whatever I asked them about food.

My Feedback: Good to EXPLORE one-time!
